Happy Thursday, friends! Have I mentioned what a whirlwind week this is shaping up to be? I got home on Monday from Atlanta and I’m busy just about every day until next Wednesday, when I leave to go back to Atlanta for a friend’s wedding.
It’s funny to me how some weeks can be so chaotic and others you can go for days without having any plans at all. Alas, it’s all good when you’re getting to spend time with great friends, eating great food, and drinking questionable wine. More on that questionable wine in my list of things I love.
In The Moment: Things I Love on October 11, 2018
1. Early Holiday Shopping | 2. Infusion Blends | 3. Lula Cafe | 4. Freezing Green Juice | 5. Bigfoot
Early Holiday Shopping
Y’all. I know I’m a crazy planner and all, but has anyone else started their holiday shopping? I like to spread mine out over a few months so that both my wallet and I stay stress free. As I’m shopping, I’m having so much fun thinking of some awesome items to add to holiday gift guides. Don’t worry though, I won’t bombard you with those until mid-November when it’s actually appropriate holiday timing. In the interim, how cute is this wrapping paper from Rifle??
1 PT Infusion Blends
Speaking of holiday shopping, I was in my favorite D.C. boutique last week and found this awesome, scalable gift idea. They had full sets with infusion bottles and fancy measuring spoons down to one individual set of infusion herbs as a stocking stuffer or coworker gift. I love finding creative ideas for everyone on my list!
Lula Cafe
On Monday night after I got home, I mobilized quickly to meet my friend and her college roommate for dinner. We ended up at Lula Cafe in Logan Square – a spot I had never even heard of but that turned out to be excellent. It’s a very eclectic place that had orange wine on the menu. What is orange wine, you ask? It’s an extremely dry light orange wine that tastes, well, interesting. I’m no wine expert, but it wouldn’t be my first pick. Have you seen orange wine on a menu yet? Tried it? What did you think?
Freezing Green Juice
I’ve talked about my love of green juice before, and the love has only grown stronger. I was talking to my juice dealer at the farmer’s market today and she told me that in the winter, she takes pre-orders only for large quantities. I asked how long it would store and she gave me the best tip … Freeze your green juice in individual jars and let them thaw overnight so they’re ready to drink in the morning. With this in mind, I got some 10 oz. mason jars. They’re a bit smaller than the standard 16 oz size which is too big for both my freezer and the amount I realistically want to drink each day.
Bigfoot
One thing I learned on my trip to Asheville last week is this amazing obsession the city has with Bigfoot. Stores sell t-shirts, stickers, post cards, and more. And I guess I hadn’t put much thought into how cute this Bigfoot character is. I mayyyy have gotten myself a sticker or two and sent some Bigfoot-themed post cards.
