Y’all, it’s good to be back! I hope you’re as excited to virtually catch up as I am! First of all, let me just say, recovering from surgery is no freaking joke. It started out amazingly, which my mom captured on her Things I Love post, but quickly went downhill, on which I’ve shared and in-depth diary on a friend’s blog.
I’m now almost four weeks post-op and starting to feel like a human again. I’m not able to run, but I am able to do a spin class or the elliptical. I’m not able to carry my normal purse, but I have been able to go out with a wristlet. And I can’t go into the office since I don’t have a way of getting my computer there with me, but I can work from home.
Now don’t get me wrong, this surgery was the best, most life-changing decision I’ve made in a long time. I got instant relief on my back and feel so much more comfortable in my own skin! Yay!
It did come along with some situational depression, though and the pain meds had some nasty side effects which made me stop taking them. I don’t say this to complain, I just think it’s fair to be totally honest about the process.
Looking on the bright side, here are 10 awesome things I did while I haven’t been blogging:
1. Tried the bucatini at Formento’s – it’s as good as the hype!
2. Bought a b-cup bra – my first one … ever. And lots of tank tops.
3. Tried the mango dragon fruit refresher at Starbucks – it’s still available and you should definitely try one.
4. Saw Hamilton! There are no words. Yes, it’s expensive, just bite the bullet and go.
5. Got a manicure. And found the appropriately named “Show Me Your Tips” by OPI.
6. Fell in love with Jordan on the Bachelorette. Follow him on Instagram – you won’t regret it.
7. I mentioned this above, but I wrote my first guest blog post – check out Perennial Aging for her series on strong women and read my post-op diary.
8. Chopped off my hair and died it even blonder than before! Ethan at Salon Rouge is my regular hair dresser (magician), but I got this fun blowout at Kelly Cardenas Salon yesterday!
9. Attended a Windy City Gator Club Board Meeting – fun fact: I’m the secretary for the UF Alumni Association’s Chicago chapter.
10. Did a heck of a job shopping the infamous N Sale. Plus, refueled with tea and my favorite lemon ricotta cookie! I’m thinking I’ll share a post next week with everything I got. And, next year I’ll get my act together to provide y’all a guide and best finds beforehand!
Okay, there you have it. Lots of fun stuff over the past couple of weeks. What have you been up to?? Fill me in on things I should do or try this summer!
