Y’all, December and January were not great months for my diet. I posted late last month about being scheduled for a breast reduction in June. It’s important that I’m at (or at least closer to) my goal weight before making that kind of change to my body. So, I need to suck it up and get back on the weight loss train.
The Weight Loss Plan
I’m pretty against fad diets or anything extreme. I want to make better decisions – both eating and exercise – that can last long term. That said, I clearly haven’t mastered this yet …
Working Out
This is the easy part for me. I actually really enjoy working out. And my friend and I are training for a half marathon in May and which will help keep me on task at the gym.
I made this training plan, but it has to be a bit flexible to account for life. This week, I’m going to be taking Monday as my rest day, working out Tuesday – Friday, and taking Saturday off for travel. Sunday I’ll do a long run.
Eating Better
This is where things get tricky. I love cheese. And chocolate. And every carb. But, here’s what I’m looking at in terms of meals this week:
Monday:
Breakfast – Lifeway Kefir (yum!)
Lunch – Ham and cheese wrap
Dinner – Salad at Bachelor night
Tuesday:
Breakfast – Spinach smoothie
Lunch – Quinoa bowl with chicken
Dinner – Chili
Wednesday:
Breakfast – Lifeway Kefir
Lunch – Bacon, Egg, and lowfat cheese on an English muffin
Dinner – Spinach salad with chicken
Thursday:
Breakfast – Spinach smoothie
Lunch – Lean Cuisine
Dinner – Quinoa bowl with chicken
Friday:
Breakfast – Lifeway Kefir
Lunch – Bacon, egg, and lowfat cheese on an English muffin
Dinner – Chili
For snacks, I have carrot sticks and guacamole, fruit – strawberries and oranges, roasted chickpeas, and Kind bars (which can also satisfy a sweet craving when need be).
On Saturday, I’m heading to Florida for the next week, so I will be building a plan to stay healthy and on the weight loss track while I’m at my mom’s house. She’s become an overnight Sous Vide master and I’m hoping to be able to share some of her recipes with you when I get there!
Please feel free to share your tips in the comments and I’ll check back in every few weeks with more ideas and to keep y’all posted on progress!
