Teeth Whitening for Sensitive Teeth with Smile Brilliant
Y’all, I have a lot of personal issues with my teeth. Don’t get me started on how my childhood dentist didn’t think I needed braces and now I have gaps that get food stuck in them at every meal. Or how he didn’t think I needed my wisdom teeth removed and I ended up with a massive infection and short-notice removal. Or that I have major sensitivity and at age 32, the thought of ice cream gives me nightmares. But, to be honest, the whiteness of my teeth has never bothered me. I whiten twice a year with drug store strips and call it a day. I’ll count my blessings on that one!
In the past few months, though, my addiction to black tea and the stains that ensue caught up with me and my teeth were looking pretty dull. I wanted something with a little more oomph than what I was using before, but was worried for real about making my already sensitive teeth worse.
Smile Brilliant has Desensitizing Gel!
I did some research and found out that Smile Brilliant not only provides a higher power whitening system but also has – wait for it – desensitizing gel! Whoop! Plus, the prices when compared to something my dentist might offer were crazy good. More than the drugstore version, but a great value for what you get.
The Smile Brilliant Process
I went with the T3 Sensitive System for average stains which comes with 6 syringes of whitening and desensitizing gels. Keep in mind, each of those syringes is enough for 3-4 applications. They sent me some putty and activator to take an impression of my teeth and I sent that back to have custom trays fit for my mouth. This all happened within a week or two and I received a carrying case with my top and bottom trays ready for use!
One of the things I love about this system is that I’ll be able to use those trays over and over and only buy the whitening and desensitizing gels in the future. That makes the value even better.
Finding the Time to Whiten
The biggest struggle for me was finding the time to have the trays in place. This was an issue with whitening strips as well. One thing that helped was after the first couple of wears I got much more used to the trays and was able to talk a bit with them in. That made it not so nerve wracking to put them in while I was working from home. I could get through phone calls without a big issue. You’re not supposed to eat for a couple hours after each treatment though, which made morning sessions hard. Mostly I whitened either right after lunch or before bed.
Back to this Desensitizing Gel Stuff
Not going to lie, the sensitivity issues were no fun. The system suggests whitening every day for 45 minutes – 3 hours at a time and using the desensitizing gel right after for about 20 minutes. After some trial and error, I wound up whitening every other day, or every few days depending on my schedule, and always on the shorter time end. Then, I got extra desensitizing gel and did that every day, regardless of if I whitened or not. That helped a ton!
The Smile Brilliant Results
I know this is what everyone’s been waiting for – my results! Y’all, I’m so thrilled with how my teeth look now – they’re back to my shiny bright whites of my past! I’m an absolute fan!
My Smile Brilliant Future
So, realistically, I guess my stains weren’t totally average – more on the light end – because I wound up using only half of my supplies. Unless you have heavy stains, it seems like the three syringes are good – but me being a sale nerd, I might buy in the higher quantities to achieve a greater price value! They have a year-long shelf life at room temp and even longer in the fridge. 🙂 As it stands, I plan to use the remaining three syringes in about 6 months as a refresh and keep my twice-a-year schedule I had with the drug store strips.
And of course, I’ll continue to purchase more of the desensitizing gel to ensure I’m pain free!
