What’s come to be known in my office as “The Backpack,” capitalized, is quite possibly, the best backpack you’ll ever own. Period. It originated with one of my favorite co-workers (yes, Eva, here’s your shout-out) in South Florida and has made its way into many many hands – including my therapist who purchased it after I brought it to one of our sessions! The thing is magic – wait until you see how much I can cart around in it – and it’s perfect for any classy gal in the city, anyone who loves to travel, or any new mom looking for a non-traditional diaper bag.
No, this is not your monogrammed LL Bean from 1994 and I promise you’ll look reasonably chic carrying it around. But why is it the best, you ask??
The Best Backpack Ever: Style and Price
I frequently (not just once or twice) get asked if The Backpack is a TUMI. With the shiny black canvas and gold hardware, it honestly could pass. But no, this budget buy is from a brand called Lily and Drew sold on Amazon and comes in at a whopping $37!!
The Best Backpack Ever: Unlimited Space
Okay, maybe not unlimited, but let’s talk about what I can easily fit without it being overstuffed:
- Gym shoes
- Gym outfit: leggings, sports bra, tank, socks
- Deodorant
- Gym lock
- Water bottle
- Ear buds (case found here)
- Computer
- Computer charging cable
- Multi-device mini charging cable
- Mouse
- Kindle (case found here)
- Pens and highlighters
- Tylenol
- Sunnies
- Bag hook
- Lotion
- Cuticle oil pen
- A couple packs of vitamins
- Notebook
- AND, my entire clutch that has about 6 lipglosses, mints, hair ties and bobby pins, credit cards, cash, etc.
Mind. Blown.
The Best Backpack Ever: Use Case Scenarios
Not only is this backpack great for the office since it will fit my laptop and anything else I could possibly need, but it’s also great for weekend trips to Starbucks. The real win in my mind though, is for traveling. I love how the bag has a square frame to allow fast and easy access even to items at the bottom of the bag, and handles that snap – making it easy to grab and carry before you have time and space to sling it over your shoulder. I also love that it’s functional for the plane, but I can take it straight to whatever business meeting I’m headed to without it being tacky.
The Best Backpack Ever: On The Back
Like many backpacks, but worth mentioning, this one has a zipper along the back side of the bag to tuck in valuables, like your passport, when on the go. It also has a strap across the back that you can slide over the handle of your roller bag.
The Best Backpack Ever: Not just in black!
If the classic black isn’t for you, this bag comes in a number of colors from the Lily and Drew brand and then a dozen colorways and styles from other designers.
Here are a couple of my favorites:
(from left to right)
Classic Black (the one I have)
Fancy Faux Blue Leather Version
Which one would you pick? And what do you always carry with you in your bag?
