Last year, I wrote about the concept of throwing away the last few months – or last 90 days – of a year saving new things and healthy habits for Jan. 1. It’s baffling to me, yet I’m just as guilty of it. Here’s an excerpt of the post from November 2018 to jog your memory:
Life gets so busy at the holidays with travel and time with family. It’s easy to throw our hands up, claim the whole year has been a mess, and swear we’ll regroup in January. I’m no expert, but if I had to guess, this is why diets and budgets tend to fall apart the last few months of the year.
Now, I don’t follow Rachel Hollis but someone told me the other day about her journal called the Last 90 Days and how she does a challenge to help hold people accountable. I looked into her program and unfortunately, though it’s a concept I love in theory, I’m pretty against some of her ideas – like cut out a food from your diet. I’m sorry, no, just no.
My Last 90 Days Challenge
So instead, I’m thinking about my own last 90 days and how I’ll challenge myself to grow instead of just letting it float by. I’ve made a short list:
- Make a last 90 days Bucket List with seasonal fun activities
- Start a journal and write 2-3 times a week
- Finish all holiday shopping by December 1
- Write down 5 things I’ve been thankful for in 2019
- Read at least 1 book a week
- Buy and set up my 2020 planner
Those are 6 easy things that, frankly, I feel are much more holistically healthy than cutting out a category of food. Eyeroll.
Will you join me on this challenge? You can make your own habits or goals – they don’t have to be the same as mine. What would be on your list? Either way, I’m going to elaborate on each of mine throughout these last 90 days and would love for you to follow along!
PS. There will be an awesome self care giveaway on Instagram Monday, Oct. 7 at 12 CT. Be sure to pop on by to enter!

You mean… no pre-Thanksgiving Vegan challenge this year?!
I love this idea! I’m trying to drop a couple pounds by Christmas so I can start off the first of the year read to train for an OCR.
