Happy Valentine’s Day, friends! While I never think to celebrate V-Day when I’m in an actual romantic relationship, I love the day to celebrate my friends and tell them how much they mean to me. Yesterday night, I went to a chick flick with some friends – Isn’t It Romantic – and then to Eataly for wine and dinner. The movie was ho-hum, but it was so nice to get some girl time in!
Here are some other things I love this week …
In The Moment: Things I Love on February 14, 2019
1. Pizza Cutter | 2. 1901 Pleated Tennis Skirt | 3. Travel Backpack | 4. Simply Curated Candle | 5. Lemon Loaf
Pizza Cutter
A few weeks ago I mentioned I’m v into cauliflower crust pizza these days – making it at home using frozen crust and whatever toppings are in my fridge. Maybe a month ago, my trusty pizza cutter I got in college broke and I had been using a regular knife to slice the pizza since then. I didn’t immediately order a new pizza cutter because, tbh, I didn’t think it was something I needed to spend $12 on. After a few weeks of fighting with a knife in the crust, I broke down and bought this pizza cutter to match the knife set my mom got me for Christmas. If you don’t have a real pizza cutter, let me tell you, you’re missing out!
1901 Pleated Tennis Skirt
I know I just posted my winter shopping guide, but since I’m going to Palm Springs next week, I needed a few more spring-y looks as well. I found this adorable tennis skirt at Nordstrom and even though it’s a major departure from my typical jeans and blouse, I had to get it. I think it would look great with a graphic tee and white tennies – like in the photo, or with nude wedges and a blouse for a summer city look.
Travel Backpack
My coworkers came into town last week and one had the most gorgeous travel backpack that is the perfect size for our laptops. We all thought it was some expensive designer bag when she shared her secret – $33 on Amazon. Three people ordered it after seeing hers – including myself. But wait, it gets better – in addition to my laptop, notebook, wallet, and essentials, it also fits my tennis shoes and a gym outfit! I got the black, but it also comes in navy, plum, gray, and two shades of red.
Simply Curated Candle
My bestie sent me some awesome preserved flowers for Galentine’s Day and the box it came in had a few other fun goodies as well. Including this travel candle that smells so yummy. I never thought about traveling with a mini candle before, but I always have candles going at home, so it seems like it would be a good hotel room addition.
Lemon Loaf
As you can tell, I’ve been way into cooking these days, which has sort of been this fun new adventure for me! I found this recipe for small batch mini lemon loaf and it has become my new favorite thing to make. I’ve been making a double batch once a week and freezing the slices to heat up for breakfast or a snack. I got this mini loaf pan for it too. Recipe note: When I double the recipe, I give half a lemon a good squeeze into the batter as well. It’s not lemon-y enough without the actual juice, in my opinion!
What are you doing to celebrate Valentine’s Day? And, what are the things you love this week?
