I have a busy schedule this week – with a friend in from Atlanta, and then three days of heads-down marketing meetings for my day job. We’re going to be so focused, I’m even staying at a hotel just 20 minutes from my house! It will be a fun way to really focus in for a few days and see my out-of-town coworkers!
As such, I’m writing this blog on Monday night – just after *the most dramatic episode* of The Bachelor yet! My Bachelor fantasy team is still very much in play – currently ranked 6/20 with lots of points to come from this week’s episode. Does anyone else get into the show by playing on fantasy leagues or brackets, or by going to viewing parties? I think it makes things much more entertaining!
Anyway, here are some things I love this week …
In The Moment: Things I Love on February 7, 2019
1. White Teas | 2. Frozen Cooking Dough | 3. Snap-Up Fleece | 4. The Enneagram of Personality | 5. Crystal Strap Flats
White Teas
A few weeks ago, I talked about how I’m really digging white tea these days but mentioned I was having a hard time finding one that wasn’t too sweet. Well, enter this lovely blend I found at a boutique in Atlanta. Unfortunately, it’s pretty expensive and is from a company based overseas – so hard to get if you don’t happen upon it. I also had a friend send me a sample of Buddha’s Blend from David’s which is amazing as well, and much more accessible on an every-day basis. For tea beginners – check out my post detailing the types and how to brew them here.
Frozen Cookie Dough
The weirdest thing has been happening in 2019 – I’ve been cooking!! This is absurd because I never … ever … have enjoyed cooking in the past, but I’ve been making myself nicer dinners at home and baking snacks vs. buying them at Starbucks. Unfortunately, the plight of the single girl is keeping things fresh. I’ve discovered the best hack for cookies, though …
I make up a batch of dough, but only bake what I’m going to eat that minute. The rest, I roll into balls and freeze on a cookie sheet. Once they’re frozen, I transfer them to a Ziplock bag with the cooking instructions written on it. Then, whenever I want a sweet treat, I pull one out of the freezer, let it thaw – only takes about 10 minutes since it’s so small, and heat it in the oven like normal. Perfect, fresh cookies every time!
Snap Up Fleece
If you’re a fan of fashion blogs, you’ve probably seen this side snap fleece from Abercrombie everywhere. That’s how I found it … Anyway, I’ve had it for a while now, but have a new love for it this week. Why? Because I didn’t realize before how warm it is. With temps in the 40s and 50s in Chicago, I was able to wear this fleece over a t-shirt without a coat! Win! The one thing I will say is the center pocket is a bit wonky as, because it’s a single lining of fleece, there’s nothing to attach it to. I still give it a thumbs up, though, and know it will be a spring staple for sure.
The Enneagram of Personality
Another popular blogger thing these days is the Enneagram personality test. If you haven’t heard of it, it’s similar to a Myers Briggs type test, but with 9 numerical types. After listening to my girls on The Lady Gang talk about it, I decided to give it a try. It was recommended to me to start with this book and if I still couldn’t figure out what I was, to take the $12 test from The Enneagram Institute. I probably won’t get to it before the weekend, but I’ll keep you posted as to what type I am!
Crystal Strap Flats
These gorgeous shoes from Kurt Geiger keep popping up in my feed lately – both the full flat and the mule. I love the nude-colored flat and think they would be a great way to dress up an outfit, but I’m reluctant to buy at almost $100. I’m going to try and wait for a similar “save” style or perhaps see if I can get them for a steal when I’m in London next month.
I’m hoping to keep up with Instagram while I’m busy with my meetings, but if I happen to disappear again, I’ll be back on Monday! What are the things you love this week?
