Hey strangers! It’s been over a week since my last blog and it’s been a really really long time since I did a Things I Love post. So long, that I almost forgot how much I liked paying tribute to the random things that make my life great – even if for a short amount of time.
The past week has been a bit chaotic with a friend in town, baby shower, afternoon tea at the Langham, and a busy work week before I leave later today for a weekend in Florida.
I’ll stop babbling – mainly because I still have to do laundry and pack. Here are the things I love this week …
In The Moment: Things I Love on January 17, 2019
1. Duraflame Logs | 2. Leopard Print Loafers | 3. Cauliflower Pizza Crust | 4. Silk Pillowcases | 5. Afternoon Tea
Duraflame Logs
If you were paying attention to my Instagram stories last month, you know how often I have a fire going now that it’s cold … and now that I know how to actually use my fireplace. I’m a newbie pyromaniac, so I was looking for the easiest way to start a fire and this is it! Stick the log – paper and all – in the fireplace, light it, and walk away. Plus, you can buy different sized logs depending on how long you want a fire to burn for – in my case, I like to keep them short so I’m able to make a Starbucks run mid-day.
Leopard Print Loafers
Okay, so after sharing my love of these blush bow mules from Amazon, I found a new pair of inexpensive shoes to transfer this obsession to. Enter the leopard print loafers. Also around $30, these babies look way nicer than they really are and will match just about everything.
Cauliflower Pizza Crust
One thing I did over the break was make my first-ever cauliflower crust pizza. I know, I know, I’m behind the times on this one, but I totally get the craze now! I ordered this one with my regular groceries on Amazon (it’s Whole Foods brand, I believe) and threw on part-skim mozz and some pepperonis. So good and surprisingly filling. My plan is to buy a few to keep in the freezer and use whatever toppings I happen to have in my fridge when a pizza craving hits.
Silk Pillowcase
The day before Christmas, my mom and I had a conversation about how silk pillowcases are all the rage for anti-aging and keeping your hair fresh between washes. Christmas morning, I opened a package from my mom’s bestie, and it had a silk pillowcase! I can’t speak to the anti-aging part, but it does keep my hair looking better on day two. What I really love is how cool it is to the touch and how soft it is! Here’s a luxe version and a budget version.
Afternoon Tea
Last weekend I went to a lovely afternoon tea at one of the most beautiful hotels in Chicago – The Langham. The Langham also happens to be in my office building, but even that didn’t make it any less relaxing. I’m pretty sure afternoon tea is the most underrated activity of our generation. What could be better than a nice pot of tea and yummy treats? Plus, the company wasn’t half bad either! 🙂
