Is anyone else really ready for Friday this week?? One of my good friends is coming to Chicago on Saturday and I can’t wait to show her around. Most people don’t know this, but a few years ago I was living in Atlanta and when I came to Chicago on a girls’ trip – with the friend who’s coming in this weekend – I decided I wanted to live here. So now she’s coming back to see what real life is like in the Windy City.
We have decided to revisit the West Loop Self-Guided Food Tour my cousin and I made up with some modifications. We’re also planning to do afternoon tea at the Allis and fancy drinks at Apogee. Anything else we should add to our list?

Star Shoes
A trend I keep seeing on Pinterest is shoes with stars on them. I’m lowkey obsessed with these booties and unfortunately, it looks like they’re out of a lot of sizes. I’ll be keeping an eye out for something similar for sure!
Dry Shampoo
Real talk – my hair gets super greasy super fast. Like wash twice a day if I have a nice event at night fast. I’ve been trying to train it and for years had a hard time finding a dry shampoo that actually worked. I discovered recently, it’s not the product I was using but the way I was using it. This is the dry shampoo I use, and this is the tutorial I watched that has changed the way I use it.
Terrazzo
Another trend I swear is popping up everywhere these days is terrazzo. Jonathan Adler released a line of home products and this terrazzo bud vase caught my eye. Other recent terrazzo finds: this, this, and this.
Translucent Powder
I’ve long talked about my struggle with looking shiny mid-day. I’ve tried just about every skin care remedy for this and my dermatologist said my only other option is oral medication. Fun fact: my body reacts really strongly to any sort of medication so I try not to take any. When getting ready for the wedding I was in a few weeks ago, the makeup artist used a spot of translucent powder to finish my look and it kept the shine at bay all. day. long. I got this one from IT Cosmetics and use it every day.
Shameless
My new TV addiction is Shameless. It has 8 seasons on Netflix that I’m flying through. I’m calling it a sad comedy because the characters are in a poor neighborhood in Chicago’s southside and are barely making it, but they do some crazy stuff to try and survive. It’s one of those that I’ll be glad when I’m caught up so I can have my life back.
