It’s been a bit since I’ve done a Things I Love post along with my weekly brain dump. Here are some things that have happened in my life since we last caught up.
- My neighborhood grocery store closed. I almost cried. It’s been in the same location since before I was born! In fairness, I understand that by ordering my groceries on Amazon, I’m part of the problem.
- I started working on holiday gift guides for y’all! It may seem early, but these take some time to put together and I plan to share them the week before Thanksgiving. If you have any brilliant ideas I should add, send them my way.
- I voted!!! And you should too! Pro tip: I went on the weekend after a particularly delicious brunch. You don’t have to miss work, and the poll workers can watch your leftovers like mine did. You really have no excuses.
- I finally watched the Going Clear documentary – only a few years late. I’m now adding “watch one documentary a month” to my 2019 bucket list, because I found it really interesting.
As you can tell, even though I haven’t been as good about posting on the blog and social media the past couple of weeks, life has gone one. So, without further ado, here are the things I love this week …
In The Moment: Things I Love on November 1, 2018
1. Egg Maker | 2. Hotel Clermont | 3. Baseball Hats | 4. Blush | 5. Coordinates Bracelet
Egg maker
The other day I watched in horror as my coworker cracked a couple eggs directly into this contraption thing at the office and stuck it in the microwave. Microwaved eggs? Really? I asked her about it and she told me there’s now a product that is built specifically for microwaving eggs! How. Freaking. Easy. I immediately walked back to my desk and bought one. My go-to in the morning now is a couple of eggs with some diced peppers (pre-chopped from Whole Foods because I’m lazy) and RF cheese. Perfect healthy breakfast in minutes with only one dish to clean.
Hotel Clermont
So, if you’re not from Atlanta, a little background … There is this infamous strip club that is in the basement of an old abandoned hotel called The Clermont. Recently, they refurbished the hotel and opened a swanky restaurant and rooftop bar. I went with a couple friends when I was in town last week and it is both adorable and delicious.
Baseball hats
I’ve made a lot of questionable fashion choices throughout the years, but one constant has always remined. I cannot pull off a hat. Period. Until now, I guess. A couple weeks ago I was having a particularly rough hair day and I pulled out one of the two hats I own. Why do I own two hats if I don’t wear them, you ask? One I got as a freebie and the other I bought for the Grand Canyon when I forgot I already owned one I never wore. Now I’m hooked for a casual (read: bummy) day in the neighborhood.
Blush
Before the wedding I was in, I went to Sephora for a makeup tutorial and some new products. My whole life I’ve steered clear of blush and just used a bronzer. The lady working showed me what good blush can look like and now I’m hooked. I got this one and have thrown away the bronzer entirely.
Coordinates Bracelet
I mentioned this in the wedding recap I wrote, but I felt it deserved its own highlight. As part of our bridesmaid gifts, the bride gave us each a bracelet with the coordinates of where we met her engraved. In my case, on the kickball fields in Piedmont Park. This would make a great friendship bracelet gift for any occasion really and come with the added benefit of supporting a small business on Etsy.
