Ah, the start of a new month. And one of my favorites, at that. I love October and the chilly air it brings. But I especially love entering a new month, when I hit every. single. goal. from the previous month!!
I’ve said it before, but my goals are set as a way to keep me on track throughout the month. It’s rare that I meet them all. But in September, I narrowed down my goals into something a bit more achievable – with a calendared out plan – and I think it really helped!
The Formula
Knowing my September had a lot of plans in place, I focused on doing one thing each week and pre-selected which week I was going to do it. I made sure to leave myself enough time on the weekend to actually work toward my goal – even though that meant saying no to a few things.
I’m going to give that another try this month, although with one fewer week since I’m traveling so dang much.
October Goal Setting
- Run 3 Times a Week – this is a carry-over from September and I’m not counting in in my weekly things since it’s something I should work into my daily life anyway.
- Make 2 Crock Pot Freezable Meals – I find I eat at home way more often if I have something quick and easy I can throw in the microwave. It’s especially helpful when I’m traveling and a. don’t want to buy groceries for a short week, and b. get back from a trip to an empty fridge. Since it’s about to be holiday travel season, this should help keep me healthy.
- Create Pins for All Old Blog Posts – Something for the side hustle this month! Fun fact: Pinterest is consistently my biggest traffic driver for my blog yet I give Instagram so much more attention. Not that Insta is going away, but this month, I’m going to focus on getting high quality pins made for older blog posts!
And Now The Fun Stuff – Printables!
I promised last month that I was working on making pretty printable versions of the planning tools I use at home. Two things really – a month-at-a-glance calendar that I make all big plans on and use to track the days I’m working out, and my weekly planning tool for more detailed happenings.
The Monthly Calendar
In the PDF, there’s a page for every month – not just October – and I’ve left the days off so you can use it for years to come!

The Weekly Planner
Every Sunday, I sit down and look at my week. I schedule workouts to fit realistically with my schedule and then know I can’t skip them without rescheduling. I look at how many days I’m eating at home vs. out to help me dictate the amount of groceries I buy. And I make a weekly to-do list with tasks ranging from household chores to bucket list items.

I’m considering getting back onto the Pinterest promoting – just wondering what software/apps would you use to create Pin-worthy pictures?

Hi Ella – I use PowerPoint for all my blog and Pinterest graphics! Nothing fancy! Hope that helps! 💗
