Yesterday on Instagram, I talked about loving the fresh start that a Monday brings. The same goes for the start of a new month. Sure, it may be arbitrary in a sense, but I love the exercise of sitting with a blank sheet of paper and writing down my goals.
A quick catch up if you’re new … I have a specific method for setting my goals by month and by week. I talk more about it here. In April, my focus was on mind and body; May was finances and budgeting; and June was surgery prep.
August Goal Setting …
Recently my therapist and I were talking about the moments when I’m the happiest. One moment that came to mind was sort of a shock to me as the words came out. I am happy enjoying a home-cooked meal on my patio. Home. Cooked. Meal. What? I hate cooking. Or do I?
Thinking about it, I really don’t love the process of cooking. That may never change. But I realized that the act of self-care is really powerful. And that’s what I love.
So, for August, my intention is to focus on what makes me happy, with goals:
- To cook myself dinner once a week
- Take at least two morning walks each week
- Meditate daily
Speaking of meditation …
In July, I didn’t get to publish my goals like normal because the blog was on a break following surgery. But, that doesn’t mean I didn’t make them.
My intention was to get back to normal life and part of that was meditating. Before surgery I meditated 3-4 times a week, but in July I meditated every single day. It felt so good, that I’m bringing that goal back again. Hopefully it will just become a life habit. I’ve been exploring new recordings and listening to some of my old favorites.
So, morning walks, meditation, and cooking – my goals for August. What are yours? And now accepting all recipe ideas in the comments below!
