Today I’m going to confess my most dirty, disgusting habit. Can you guess what it is? I’m a total nail biter. Gross, I know, but over the years, I’ve found I can control this a bit by keeping my nails polished. Because I do work in corporate America, I tend to default to neutrals and pale pink shades, but I always see Summer as the time to pull out the bright polishes.
This year, I’ve gone through the Essie and OPI Summer 2018 shades to pull the best-of-the-best and include some inspired by these two lines that you may already have in your collection.
My Top 8 Nail Colors for Summer
Summer Lovin’ Having a Blast!
OPI’s Summer 2018 collection is themed to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the movie Grease! I’m not sure I have the nerve to wear bright orange nail polish, but I say more power to ya, if you do!
A Wink And A Smile
Okay, this one gives me a bit of sticker shock, but I absolutely love the shade. Has anyone tried Deborah Lippmann polish before? Is it worth the price tag? Maybe I’ll have to give it a try for the sake of science.
I’ll Have A Gin & Tectonic
This is an older OPI color, but I saw a similar shade in OPI’s Summer 2018 collection and it reminded me to put this one in rotation. I forgot how much I love it. It really is a nice, neutral shade with a touch of peach.
Making Harmony
Okay, this one actually is from Essie’s Summer 2018 collection and I think it’s a great change of pace from your typical summer brights. Would be the perfect shade to wear to an evening wedding or during a work conference.
Daycream
I love a good almost-white polish. This one has the slightest hint of pink and it will really pop with your summer spray tan! I normally don’t do budget nail polish, but when it’s something you may not wear often, I’d rather not spend a lot. Sally Hansen’s Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear line is my favorite budget polish.
Mint Candy Apple
Who doesn’t have Mint Candy Apple in their nail collection already? Both OPI and Essie had a similar green shade in their Summer 2018 collections, so this is the perfect opportunity to reuse an old classic.
Lucky Lucky Lavender
Okay – this one is coming in as an ode to melodramatic purple. It’s the perfect fun shade to transition from spring to summer.
Red-ical Rockstar
Another one from Sally Hansen, I’m totally digging this fire-engine red – especially for my toes!
