Oh my gosh. When did it become May? Cue a Justin Timberlake meme. What’s going on in my world these days? Today is my cousin’s 30th birthday, so that’s exciting and will mean a fun party this weekend!! Also of note: Bumble and Bustle is back up and running on the blog, Instagram, Pinterest, AND Facebook! If you’re not connected on all, you should be. 😉
Speaking of Instagram, if you follow my stories, I posted a survey of sorts last night asking what kinds of content you want more of. If you didn’t already vote, be sure to check those out before around 5 today or shoot me an email with your thoughts! One of my awesome readers messaged me that she loves all the content but loves these “Things I Love” posts the best. So sweet! Also, I have to agree – they’re so fun to write! So here we go …
In The Moment: Things I Love on May 3, 2018
1. Cats Against Catcalls | 2. Podcasts | 3. iPhone Portrait Mode | 4. Ramen Noodles | 5. Soludos
Cats Against Catcalls
Okay, let’s talk about the fastest impulse spend in a long time … I saw this freaking amazing design on Pinterest and immediately bought four stickers for myself and some of my girlfriends. Cats – love! Catcalls – not so much! So, it’s perfection. There’s an Etsy shop that prints the design on t-shirts and other apparel, or let me Google it for you to find other products!
Podcasts
It’s that time of year – the weather has warmed up and it means I can walk home from work every day instead of jumping on the bus. I love that, but it makes for a longer commute. Enter, podcasts. I’ve talked before about my love of The Lady Gang. Cheers to those ladies on their new TV show which is another thing to love this week – 3 girl bosses making it happen!
Annnnnyway, I also loved Serial when it was on and S Town is another strong contender. I just devoured Dirty John last week and need more. What podcasts do you love?
iPhone Portrait Mode
So, my iPhone 6 finally bit the dust and I was debating between getting an 8 (the 8+ is just too big for me) and an X. After seeing the camera difference, I felt like it was worth splurging on the X. While I’m busy getting my budget back in order after that expenditure, I’m also busy falling in love with portrait mode. Essentially, it blurs out the background of your photo so you focus on the subject. Here’s a really awesome side-by-side comparison.
I mean, how crazy is that? For someone who posts on Instagram twice a day, it was worth the extra money. PS. The iPhone in the image above shows the case I purchased for mine. Proof I love anything Rifle Co.
Ramen Noodles
I tried ramen noodles for the first time last week. I know I know, where have I been?! Now, in fairness, I did used to eat those little Maruchan packets at the pool when I was a lifeguard, but I’m not counting that. I got to sample two different kinds from Slurping Turtle in River North – one that had fried chicken and was on the spicier side (called Hangover Ramen) and another vegetable one with tons of mushrooms and red curry. Yum!
I’ve been craving ramen pretty much ever since, so I need to go back stat. And find other local ramen spots too! Any suggestions from my Chicago friends? Featured image for this post by @sadiehill!
Soludos
I feel like all my most stylish friends have a pair of Soludos, so of course I’m feeling a strong case of FOMO. There are so many adorable options. Some that even bring in that parrot trend I was talking about a few weeks ago! If I had to pick – and I’m sure I will at some point – I love these, these, and these.
Okay, I feel like that was a lot. What should be on my list next week?

Yay! Love these. 🙂
I used to be so into podcasts (thanks to Serial and S Town) but for some reason I’ve fallen off the bandwagon and haven’t listened to any in FOREVER. Adding The Lady Gang and Dirty John now. Interested in other recommendations as well!
I LOVE Slurping Turtle. You should also check out High Five Ramen in the West Loop (my fav) and Ramen-San in River North.
Also those pictures are making me regret my iPhone 8 purchase….

So much good info here! I’ll keep you posted on other good podcasts and please do the same – I’m so far behind on The Lady Gang, but they won’t last me all summer!! And definitely want to try those other ramen spots too! Yay!

Full disclosure… I ended up listening to the entire Dirty John podcast last Friday while working from home. So good!

Yesss! That’s exactly what I did one day – so fast and so good. Glad you enjoyed it!
