Is anyone else like me and read a lot more in the winter? It just seems right to cozy up with a good book. And now that I have my fireplace going (check my Instagram stories to see it in action) you’re not going to be able to tear me away! I have created a list of 9 books to read that I’m sharing today and hopefully making a dent in over the holiday break.
I promised myself I would read a classic novel in 2018 and just finally (on December 8 – ha!) finished 1984. To be honest, I wasn’t sure what to think about it. It was good, but not as epic as I was expecting. While it’s fun to push the boundaries and try something new, for me, reading is about enjoyment, so I’ll stick these more current finds.
9 Books To Read …
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo
By: Taylor Jenkins Reid
This came highly recommended about a Hollywood icon-turned-recluse who reaches out to an unknown journalist to tell her life story.
By: Celeste Ng
This has been on my Kindle forever, so it will be nice to finally get a chance to read it. It’s about a quiet Cleveland suburb and secrets of families who live there. Sounds a lot like the neighborhood I grew up in, so think it will be a good read!
By: Emily Giffin
This one is about two families whose lives collide after a drunken photo is taken at a teenaged party and the community starts dividing and assigning blame. Probably something that could happen in an instant anywhere. Will be an interesting read …
Erotic Stories for Punjabi Widows
By: Balli Kaur Jaswal
Another book that came highly recommended. It sounds silly at a surface level, but sounds like it has deeper themes of women’s liberation and sexual awakening.
By: Kate Quinn
This historical novel features a former female spy and a pregnant teen searching for answers on a decades-old mystery. Sounds like a page turner and I can’t wait!
By: Chanel Cleeton
This is about the connection of a grandmother and granddaughter raised in different cultures. Sounds like a coming-of-age tale with life lessons scattered along the way.
By: Kristina McMorris
This sounds like a heart wrenching tale of a mother giving up her two children during the great depression. But more than that, it seems to be about two journalists grappling with morals as they tell the story to the public.
By: Rhys Bowen
About a daughter who retraces her father’s footsteps 30 years later to learn about his life history. She’ll learn from what she uncovers of his past.
By: Rachel Hollis
I’m not usually a fan of self-help books – I find them to be preachy and annoying. But I loved You Are A Badass and I’m hoping this has a similar vibe.
Okay, so there’s my next 9 books to read. What’s on your reading list?
