While we all know my love of flamingos is timeless, for most people, the fad is likely coming to a plateau. Remember two years ago when pineapples started appearing on everything? And how this year llamas and cacti have seen a surge? Well, I’m going to go out on a limb here and say the next trend to watch are parrots, macaws, toucans, cockatiels, and more!
I just started noticing this a few weeks ago with the cutest shirt from Target – that sadly, I don’t see online anymore. It was a simple gray v-neck with small yellow toucans printed all over it. Oddly enough, I came across a similar shirt at LOFT while I was doing some spring wish shopping. Then last week I saw some amazing macaw statement earrings from Bauble Bar and figured this all wasn’t just a coincidence.
After a little searching, I’m finding tons of options from major retailers and predict we’ll see the trend grow.

It seems the sky is the limit from journals to greeting cards, statement earrings to everyday t-shirts. My guess is this trend is coming up because flamingos have done so well and parrot-family birds are a natural addition to the monstera-leaf prints that are also popular right now. Plus, their colors give designers so many options to play with.
So, what are your thoughts? Love the up-and-coming tropical bird trend? Hate? Think it will grow on you? Think it will die out before it makes it as big as flamingos?
