Every year since I turned 25, I make a Bucket List – not of things to do before I die, rather before the next playing of Auld Lang Syne.
Past Bucket List highlights have included get a tattoo (check), visit a new state (check, check, check), build a terrarium (check), and start a side hustle (check)!

When I’m making the list, I try to be realistic about what I can fit in within the year – both time wise and financially – and I only put items that I myself have control over. I also make each item quantifiable so I can really check them off – as opposed to something like “read more.”
Building a terrarium was something that didn’t take too long or cost too much money. Great Bucket List item for 2013!
So, without further ado …
Claire’s 2018 Bucket List
- Visit a new state
- See the Northern Lights
- Take a letterpress class
- Do a mini kitchen makeover
- Do a mini bathroom makeover
- Run a 5K in 31 minutes (or less!)
- Try a new Chicago restaurant every month
- Learn how to use my DSLR
- Rollover my 401k
- Go on a local hike (within driving distance of Chicago)
- Go to a concert
- Make a charitable donation
- Go to a Gator game
- Try a new workout or gym
- Read a classic novel
- Try Matcha
I keep this list written in the back of my planner and cross things off as I go. I also sometimes add things mid-year. It’s great to have this someplace I see frequently as a reminder to live life to the fullest.

I’m so glad to hear that! Earlier tonight I posted another part of the Arizona trip into Havasu Falls – that’s a bucket list destination if there ever was one! And today I got back from seeing the Northern Lights in Alaska, so stay tuned for info there. I’m hoping my next adventure is a road trip on the Pacific Coast Highway!
